About the project
Unikorn Vision is fund administration software for small administrators, starting in Guernsey. The first module is KYC: a flexible AI pre-screening agent, investor records, layered validation and a full history of every change.
The Problem
Small administrators often run KYC in spreadsheets or in older systems where KYC sits apart from the register. Our project encourages and raises awareness of the use of AI responsibly and ethically. Administrators can use the KYC software for free, provided their infrastructure is set up. They do not need to sign a contract that binds them to any software vendor. Source code can be provided upon request.
The AI Agent
AI does the searching and the first draft. People make every decision.
- The AI pre-screening does what a compliance officer does when searching public sources: it checks sanctions and PEP lists, adverse media, the web and company registries, with forgery documents detection, and writes an unverified, sourced summary.
- It is public and needs no sign-in. It works from a name and a few details; User can upload an image for forgery document detection.
- Nothing from a pre-screening is stored. Results are shown on screen and are gone when you leave the page.
- Information prepared by AI stays marked as AI-prepared, even after approval, with who approved it and when.
- The AI cannot create or approve records, and has no access to the system of record.
The Build
The pre-screening runs separately, as one AI agent working through clearly defined steps. It is built in independent layers:
- Data sources: the agent asks for a type of check, never a specific provider. Each source sits in its own layer, so a source can be changed or added without changing the agent.
- AI model: the connection to the model is its own layer, so Unikorn Vision does not depend on a single AI provider. Each switch is tested against a fixed set of cases first.
- Checks in code: code confirms after every run that the mandatory checks ran, every finding has a source, and a failed check is never shown as clear.
The platform runs on PostgreSQL 18, a container app in the client's own environment. Business rules and controls sit in the database, not on the screen.
- Data Isolation: Core business rules and regulated records sit firmly in the database, ensuring AI outputs never mix with or alter the system of record. AI agent generates a draft. A person reviews it, requests evidence and approves it.
